F.A.Q.

  • Why is the Winch on the primary battery instead of the secondary?
  • This is to allow the alternator to power the winch directly along with the main battery when the isolator system is in Mode 2. Winching in Mode 2 will hold the Auxiliary battery in reserve for jump-starting. This is import if you stall the motor or turn the key off after winching without allowing the main battery to recharge. You could run the Winch of the auxiliary battery if you are paying attention to things and remember to keep the isolator in the right mode. It would work either way.

This also allows the winch to be directly connected to the alternator/battery without going through the isolator system. Remember the Winch draws an ass ton of power when its working hard. See power system document for more details.
